Roosevelt was nominated by Democrat for another election. Due to the fact that it was during the world war time (did not enter the war yet). His main campaign was to keep America out off the war, and his proven excellence leadership. This election again Roosevelt won however his victory margin was lesser than the election of 1936 and 1932 mainly due to the tradition of breaking 2 terms. His opponent was Wendell Willkie, a republican. He won the election with the electoral vote of 449 to 82 and the popular vote of 54.7 % to 42.7% marking the history of the first president who served 3 consecutive terms.
